Philip Saunders

The Opticians based at the Camberley practice are Philip Saunders and Charlotte Cook.

Philip Saunders is the resident Optometrist at the Camberley practice. Earlier in his professional life he provided optometric support to a research department which specialised in aviation medicine. He has a particular interest in contact lens practice.

Charlotte Cook

Charlotte Cook is also one of the Partners at John Harwood. She enjoys seeing all patients, including children. She has a special interest in fitting contact lenses to unusual corneas such as in keratoconus, corneal grafts and post laser. She is also currently working towards an MSc in Clinical Optometry and is working one day a week at Moorfields Eye Hospital in the Contact Lens Clinic.

We have two Dispensing Staff Members, Helen and Katy, who will be happy to advise you about all aspects of spectacles and lenses. Here at our Camberley Branch, we stock many different ranges of glasses including Fendi, Emilio Pucci, Calvin Klein, CK, Michael Kors, Bench, Guess, Ted Baker, Adidas, Espirit, Jaguar and Silhouette.

The Camberley practice also offers Ortho-K, a treatment that is fully reversible to correct myopia. The practice has a corneal topographer which maps the cornea, so that a tailor-made contact lens can be made. These specially designed contact lenses reshape the cornea overnight to enable myopic patients to see clearly during the day without the need to wear contact lenses or spectacles. The treatment is particularly beneficial to sportsmen or women, those that work in dusty environments or current contact lens wearers who suffer from dry eyes. More information can be found at www.eyedreamlenses.co.uk or by phoning the practice.

As in other John Harwood practices, Camberley offers patients digital retinal photography, which has proved a useful tool for diagnosing and monitoring certain eye conditions.

The practice also participates in a direct referral scheme for cataract surgery in the Surrey Heath area. In suitable cases, patients with cataracts who wish to have surgery can be referred directly to the Eye clinic at Frimley Park Hospital, the Royal Surrey Hospital or Ashford and St Peters Hospital. This bypasses the need for the patient to see their GP and speeds up the referral process meaning a shorter waiting time for the operation. The patient’s GP is kept fully informed at all times.
