RGP Plan

At John Harwood Optometrists, we pride ourselves on our clinical excellence. You can be confident that you will be treated with nothing but the highest standard of care to ensure that your eyes remain healthy.  We feel that you should pay for the service and care that you receive rather than the products that you purchase. We also feel that regular replacement of contact lenses will help to keep your eyes healthy. To reflect this, we have introduced RGP Care Plan.

“RGP Care Plan” is John Harwood Optometrists’ new, complete eye care and payment plan for Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) or “hard” contact lens wearers. As a valued member, you will receive regular full Eye Examinations, an Annual Contact Lens Consultation, and any interim/emergency appointments as necessary, without additional cost.

To minimise the risk of contact lens related complications, The British Contact Lens Association recommends that RGP contact lenses should be replaced every 6 to 12 months. With RGP Care Plan, you will receive a discount towards your contact lenses to make regular replacement more affordable. If you lose or damage a contact lens, you can be reassured that the cost of replacement will also be at the reduced RGP Care Plan price.

Not only does RGP Care Plan take care of the necessary aftercare and eye health checks, but it also offers the following benefits:

  • No extra charge for additional or emergency appointments
  • 25% off all RGP Contact Lenses
  • 25% off complete spectacles (excluding sun spectacles)
  • 10% off non-prescription sunglasses (non-transferrable)
  • Discounted Contact Lens Solutions
  • 25% off lost/broken Contact Lenses, which can be delivered to your home address for £2.00 (proof of delivery may be asked for when posting the contact lenses)
  • For NHS patients, the value of the eye examination can be deducted from the monthly RGP Care Plan Payment

How to join RGP Care Plan:

RGP Care Plan is be paid for by Direct Debit. This enables you to have the option of spreading some of the cost of your clinical care into smaller, monthly payments, which are covered by the Direct Debit guarantee offered by all Banks.

To become an RGP Care Plan member, you simply sign up in practice to the monthly RGP Care Plan fee of £7.50. After 3 monthly payments have been received, you will be entitled to all of the benefits listed overleaf.

If you do not wish to commit to spreading your costs into smaller monthly payments, we offer a Pay as you Go Scheme. This is very simple, but does not offer the additional benefits of the RGP Care Plan:

  • £75 for an annual contact lens check up (including full Eye Examination every 2 years, or as necessary)
  • Any additional contact lens appointments throughout the year are charged at £45 per appointment.
  • Contact Lenses and Solutions at our standard price
  • No discount on spectacles
  • NHS patients can use the value of the NHS eye examination towards the £75 annual check up fee (when appropriate)
